- Increase awareness of flow of energy throughout Tai Chi practice
Taoist Meditation
Taoist meditation supports you in entering a deep level of quietness. Tools, such as focusing on specific points in the body and directing Chi between them, engage the mind and allow you to place less attention on your thoughts and concerns. As the ability to focus increases, distracting thoughts become less powerful. Over time you can lose yourself in pure deep meditation, opening a window into bliss and nourishing your body with natural energy. You will come to know that you have access to healing and peace.
Tai Chi-Moving Meditation
The intricacies of Tai Chi can be challenging and, therein lies another benefit of the practice-focusing on the task at hand is a form of meditation and a distraction from the cares and worries of everyday life. The Tai Chi form begins with a standing meditation posture. As the practice continues you experience the flow of Chi throughout the form and eventually develop the ability to walk through your life in that meditative state. The cycle continues as meditation enhances Tai Chi practice, allowing you to direct Chi into a block or punch in the advanced levels of practice.
Health Benefits of Meditation
- Regulates body metabolism
- Decreases anxiety and depression
- Relieves symptoms of many illnesses and chronic conditions
Meditation has been shown to have a significant effect on body metabolism, which leads to lessening of symptoms of illnesses, as well as improved mental health. Meditation slows the heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood flow to major muscles and reduces muscle tension. In turn, people will experience reduced symptoms of illnesses and conditions, such as allergies, arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic pain, high blood pressure, heart disease, lung diseases and addictions. It also strengthens the immune system.
Meditation also reduces the symptoms of anxiety disorders and depression and creates ease in coping with stress. This leads to more enjoyment and appreciation of life and a sense of well-being.
